A Funny, Penetrating Look At Procrastination
If you’re not a sufferer of procrastination, you’re certainly in the lucky minority. Tim Urban — who you may know from Wait But Why — decided to look into what makes procrastinators and non-procrastinators seem so very different.
“Tim Urban knows that procrastination doesn’t make sense, but he’s never been able to shake his habit of waiting until the last minute to get things done,” the description explains. “In this hilarious and insightful talk, Urban takes us on a journey through YouTube binges, Wikipedia rabbit holes and bouts of staring out the window — and encourages us to think harder about what we’re really procrastinating on, before we run out of time.”
Listening to his own amazing journey is both engaging and entertaining (including how he procrastinated writing this very TED Talk), but he also points us to how we learn more about our own habits to help galvanize us forward.

Procrastination can mean very different things, depending on whether or not we have deadlines attached to our goals — and managing to implement discipline without deadlines can be incredibly tricky. And maybe Urban is right, maybe we all have procrastination in our soul, whether or not we always acknowledge it. But what we all definitely have in common is that we can try to make the most of the time we have, starting right now.
