Ending a relationship is hard, but officially ending it on Facebook is even worse. One day you’re Facebook official, and the next you’re publicly changing your relationship status to single.
And then real heartache happens. You see who your ex “friends.” You see their status updates. You see their photos. And they see yours. You spend hours upon hours trying to detag your memories.
Facebook just announced that they will now help you manage how you interact with your former lovers. Once you indicate that you are now “single” the following tools will be at your disposal.
These new tools will allow you to “See less of a former partner’s name and profile picture around Facebook without having to unfriend or block them. Their posts won’t show up in News Feed and their name won’t be suggested when people write a new message or tag friends in photos.”
Now you have the option to see less of that stupid jerk.
And you get to limit what they get to about your new awesome single life.
Also, Facebook will take care of your past posts. You do still have the option to go through each individual post – if you’re into that type of torture.
Now you don’t have to worry about seeing your ex’s name ever again, and instead, you can focus your Facebook experience getting annoyed by all of the smug couples in your feed.
