Dolph Lundgren — The Hollywood Star Turned Social Activist

You may remember him from Rocky IV, when Dolph Lundgren played the Soviet boxer Ivan Drago and was transformed into a Hollywood star. In this video, you’ll see Lundgren in a totally different light.

In this TED talk, the scholar and activist shares a personal message, telling the audience, “If you heal yourself you can heal others.” He talks about the abuse he suffered as a child and his attempts to cope. He’s lived a life that beggars belief and, ultimately, he found peace even in the darkest of places. You can hear his extraordinary story here:

Dolph Lundgren is a wonder. While he has starred in over 50 films, he was also awarded a Fulbright to MIT after graduating at the head of his class in chemical engineering at the Royal Inst. of Technology in Stockholm. Yet he is modest, he is unassuming, and he is grounded.

It’s so heartening to see more and more people open up about their positive experiences with therapy — removing the stigma and encouraging others to do the same. What he calls this “fight worth fighting”, the fight to heal yourself, is so important — and seeing how that healing can spread is a profound experience.
