Last week, Vashon Island Pet Protectors put up a desperate Facebook post looking for two dogs, Phoebe and Tillie, who had been missing for five days.
On Monday, they got a call from someone who had seen a “reddish” dog matching Tillie’s description. Volunteers searched the woods and found something that was truly touching.
Tillie had been sitting on the edge of a cistern for over a week, watching over Phoebe, who had fallen in and couldn’t get out. She had only left to try and find help.
An update from the charity said that both dogs were cold and hungry, but otherwise fine. They are now back with their owner.
Commenters commended the dogs on their loyalty to one another.
We all need a best friend like this.
