M. Night Shyamalan Works His Magic For Apple TV+ With “Servant”
We normally think of horror and thrillers as deeply rooted in the world of film — but more and more, we’ve started to see this art move into television and the episodic. That transition feels complete with “Servant” — an offering from Apple TV+ from the king of the genre.
“Doubt what you believe,” the description explains. “From M. Night Shyamalan, ‘Servant’ follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.”
With an incredible cast and a blood-curdling premise, this promises to be a winner among horror die-hards and casual viewers alike. It’s the tale of a dysfunctional family taken to new heights, bordering the worlds of the universal and the supernatural.
If you want to discover it for yourself, you can see the whole trailer here:
“Over the years I’ve been developing these characters and trying to tell a story that’s very contained,” writer Tony Basgallop told Variety. “I’ve thrown away a lot of the rules I’ve learned about writing in television for this one; I’ve very consciously tried to make it personal and yet keep it genre-specific — play it as a thriller.”
It certainly promises a thrill. You can watch it on Apple TV+ now.
