Greta Gerwig Continues Her Directorial Success With “Little Women”
With a cast like this, the “Little Women” remake is destined for success — but it’s Greta Gerwig’s next spin as a director that has really made the anticipation buzz. After her huge success with “Lady Bird”, many have been holding their breath to see what happens next.
And “Little Women” is a bold choice. A classic with a huge following, fans will be expecting a lot out of such iconic source material. But with a cast including Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March, it’s off to an undeniably strong start. And it seems as though the cast has become just as close-knit as the characters they portray.
“Off-set, every single one of the girls actually did come to Laura with their heartaches and their problems,” Gerwig told IndieWire. “Everybody had a good cry with Laura. She became this mother, sister, confidant person for everyone on set, which was a very beautiful thing to embody. She was a rock for everyone.”
So how does it live up to expectation? You can see the whole trailer here:
“Little Women” is a brave choice, but — as the trailer shows — this version has clearly risen to the challenge. You will be able to see it in cinemas this holiday season.
