It’s hard to imagine that it’s 2019 and we still need to be taught basic lessons about the female anatomy — but Le Clitoris, a French animated short with English subtitles, does it beautifully. “Women are lucky, they get to have the only organ in the human body dedicated exclusively for pleasure,” the video explains. “In this humorous and instructive animated documentary, find out its unrecognized anatomy and its unknown herstory.”

This hilarious video traces the slightly ludicrous history of this crucial piece of female sexual anatomy with its astonishing 8,000 nerve endings. Over the years, men have often assumed they have ‘discovered’ the clitoris, only to misidentify and misunderstand it. Even today, we still often relegate the clitoris to a sexual side dish — for those who remember to engage it all — despite the fact that an estimated 75 percent of women need direct clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm. This video offers an entertaining crash-course in the clitoris and all its glory. You can see the whole thing here:

We shouldn’t have to still be teaching these lessons, but this short does it with humor and grace. It’s time that everyone understands the basics of female anatomy — in fact, it’s long overdue.
