Too little attention is paid to the wounded of war. Here you can see Greek Army soldiers, wounded during battle with Axis Italian forces, gathered around a Greek nurse. She reads from Nike, a weekly newspaper about the ongoing Greco-Italian War, that would provide vital details to the wounded and the families of soldiers. The photo becomes more remarkable the longer you look at it. While at first the soldiers seem mobile and attentive, a closer look at their dressings reveals the extent and range of their injuries, painting a darker picture.
