“I’m James. I’m 17. And I’m pretty sure I’m a psychopath.” It’s a bold opening for the trailer of The End of the F**king World, a new British black comedy coming to Netflix. The series is based on the graphic novel by Charles Forsman and promises to push boundaries that far beyond the normal coming of age TV show tropes. When a young man convinced he’s a psychopath — and is already preparing to murder someone — heads out on a road trip with the strange, endearing, and no-nonsense Alyssa, a series of adventures unfold. There are some gritty moments, but also some heart-warming ones. With a cast straight out of Black Mirror and Game of Thrones, the show has all of the makings of a huge success.
Still, it seems like a series you may need to stick with. Luckily, Netflix makes it ideal for binging. “The End of the F***king World” is a near-perfect Netflix binge and, in all likelihood, an intolerable traditional television experience,” Indie Wire explains. “Through three episodes, the adaptation of Charles Forsman’s comic book series comes across as a pointless odyssey copping themes and plot points from other… suddenly “The End of the F***ing World” becomes a darkly compelling journey of self-discovery and adolescent confusion.” Ultimately, there’s a huge payoff.

It’s certainly not something we’ve seen before, even on Netflix. The series doesn’t sound like it’s for the faint of heart, but it’s already gaining a huge following and a lot of strong reactions from viewers. The ending in particular has caused a huge stir — but we won’t ruin that for you. Instead, you’ll have to see it for yourself. It’s available on Netflix, so be prepared to binge.
