Never be late for a flight again. Well, if you’re a totally fearless and highly skilled wingsuit flyer, that is. Because, as this video from Red Bull shows, two wingsuit flyers successfully completed a BASE jump into a plane in mid-air. And yes, it’s as mind-blowing as it sounds. “French wingsuit flyers recently completed an unbelievable stunt following a B.A.S.E. jump from the top of the Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland,” Red Bull explains. “Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet, known as the Soul Flyers, caught up with and flew into a plane in mid-air. As part of their project A Door in the Sky, which they had spent several months training for by completing more than 100 test flights in Empuriabrava in Spain, the duo B.A.S.E jumped from the top of the Jungfrau, one of Europe’s highest mountains, and flew into a Pilatus Porter light aircraft in mid-air. Now that’s a different way to catch a flight.”
And it’s amazing to watch. With little more than a “Let’s go.”, the two fliers BASE jump from 4062 meters and— while hurtling through the air at around 135 kilometers an hour— manage to successfully get through the door of a plane. And we’re not talking about a huge commercial plane, we’re talking about a very small target The word unbelievable gets thrown around a lot and it’s not always deserved. But when you watch this video, I’m sure you’ll see why it earns that title. You can see the whole thing here:
Seriously. I don’t know if their amazing skills are more impressive or the fact that they had the courage to even try it in the first place. The attempt in itself is unbelievable, but they nail it. Red Bull has brought us a lot of amazing stunts, but this one really pushes the limits.
