When it comes to living legends, Lenny Kravitz definitely qualifies. He has an old-school, laid-back charisma that feels like it’s from another era. Now in his 50s, he is still delivering catchy, soulful music that demands you pay attention. This video, for “Low”, features Kravtiz banging on the drums with this sexually-charged, funky instant hit. He sings:

Don’t lift me up
To turn me down
I just want a lover
Baby stay with me on the floor
Talk with me, let me go
Got to keep below
Talk with me, let me go
Got to keep below

An epic sound from an epic performer, “Low” is an instant classic. You can see the whole video here:

“Low” comes from Kravitz’s new album, Raise Vibration, which is coming out next month. He told Rolling Stone that he had moments of wrestling with writer’s block on this album, but refused to collaborate or share the load with modern hit-makers. “I’ve never really worked that way, following trends or doing what people think you should do,” he explained. “I’ve always made music that came naturally out of me. What am I going to do, make a trap record? Not that I don’t like that stuff, but I’ve got to be me.” But then, inspiration finally struck — and it happened while he was asleep. “This is what I’d been waiting for. And once I started that process, the floodgates opened and it all started coming out me. I dreamt the whole record.” What a dream.
